The Broad View Community Choir is a 90-voice non-auditioned mixed-voice choir open to all. The choir is sponsored and managed by Broad View United Church, which recognizes that community singing is a spiritual practice unto itself, and that singing together creates joy, fun, connection, and improves physical and mental health. We sing a variety of music: swing standards from the 40’s, classic pop, folk, and R&B from the 60s and 70’s, gospel, folk and world music.

The choir is led by popular choir director Brian Tate and is accompanied by jazz pianist Ashley Wey. We offer a fall and spring concert accompanied by a combo of piano, bass, and drums. Although sheet music is provided, music-reading ability is not necessary as there are practice tracks provided for all parts and the music is easy to learn. You are welcome to come and try us out before making a commitment.

Monday: Sing and Play Group - Rhymes, songs and stories, followed by snack and free play.

Wednesday: Playgroup offers art activities, stories, dress up, and other activities. For children up to five years of age. A family support worker is there to answer any parenting questions, to provide referrals and to assist families.

Welcome to an exciting year of faith exploration for toddlers and up! Following Children’s Time in the sanctuary, we gather in age-based groups to explore the stories and teachings of Jesus and discover how God’s love and hope guide our everyday lives. Through stories, crafts, conversation, science, games and fun activities, children learn, connect and grow in faith.

A caregiver will be available in the creche most Sundays for infants and toddlers who are ready to be left in care. Parents are also welcome to stay with their child in the creche, where toys, stories and a livestream of the service are available. Livestreamed into the room for the adults.

Youth have the option Sunday morning to stay in the service or join their peers for an exploration of the biblical passage for the month through conversation, activities and art. This is a time for exploring questions and digging into matters of faith. Curiosity is welcome.

At Broad View United the BVU Quilters are making quilts and gifting them to survivors of the residential school system through the QUILTS FOR SURVIVORS Project. Young adults at BVU are deeply valued and full of potential. BVU seeks to support and walk alongside young adults in their God-given agency, gifts, voices, talents, and stories.

Join with other young adults from BVU for a time of conversation and faith exploration. Lunch is provided after the ConXion service, with opportunities to connect and get to know other young adults aged 18–30. Our gatherings include a check-in and a “question of the day,” followed by conversations that naturally grow from there.

On the third Sunday of each month, we engage directly with the Bible. It doesn’t have to be overly serious—just authentic. (BYO-Bible on third Sundays!)

In addition to these lunches, a variety of other young adult events happen throughout the year on occasional Friday evenings. Sign up for the young adult contact list to receive updates as they come.

You are warmly invited to join our monthly Women Exploring Spirituality group as we read and reflect together on How We Learned to Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith by Mariann Edgar Budde, Episcopal Bishop of Washington. Each gathering begins with a time of check-in, followed by conversation around a portion of the book, as we share our insights, our questions, and the wisdom of one another’s lives. Together we explore how these stories of courage speak into our own experiences and the realities of the world we live in today. All women are welcome — come and be part of the journey.
